Folly Beach, Charleston SC
I’ve lived in Charleston all of my life and hope to stay here for a very long time. My favorite place of all here is Folly Beach. I remember as a little girl my mom taking me there, spending the day soaking up the sun and then complaining when it was finally time to leave. By the time we reached the homestead, I was burned, sandy and very tired from spending my entire day at the beach. By the time the week was finished, we were looking forward to spending another Saturday basking in the sun and surfing the waves.
Years later, I still spend my days at the beach however getting there has changed. It seems like only a few years ago a trip to the beach took maybe twenty minutes from my house, possibly thirty if traffic was a bit thick. The cars heading out to Folly now is unbelievable! I look around and wonder where everyone is coming from and why are they suddenly overcrowding ”my” beach. I admit, I get a bit aggravated at the heavily populated beaches, especially when trying to find parking. It’s a bit tedious but all in all, once you find that spot and park your fanny on the beach, nothing else really matters….
